Artist Statement:

In this piece I feature the grey whale, which connects our California coast to the mangrove lagoons of the Baja California peninsula. A mangrove tree (symbolizing the tree of life) hugs the grey whale, in a symbiotic relationship benefitting sea creatures such as the sea turtle and lemon shark. Land creatures such as the jaguar, and air creatures like the butterfly and honeybee are connected back to the well-being of the grey whale and the sea.

Symbolically, this piece is a circle of the Divine Feminine through the ancient wisdom of the whale spirit, through the powerful energy of the jaguar, and through the healing communal connection of the honeybee. The butterfly reminds us of the cycles of life- from the growth in the darkness of the womb to the resilience of spreading wings of change over our shared life together on this planet.
