Artist Statement:

“Earth and Inner Growth” is a piece I created as a way to celebrate the process of our inner spiritual growth through Nature’s main growth symbol- the flower.

From incubating in the depths of the dark Earth, to blooming in the light of the sun, the journey of the poppy from seed to flower seems so whimsically human-like. The flower reminds us to trust the process- to surrender to the dark night of the soul, trusting that the journey will one day lead to blooming.

I also intentionally integrated two playful creatures into this painting- the fox and the deer, who always seem to be in perfect harmony with the cycles of Mother Nature. Additionally, the monarch butterfly and the honeybee add another layer of symbolism. Both pollinators, and both with strong ancient ties to expressions of the Divine Feminine, their transformation from larva to winged creatures reminds us to again, trust the growth process.

Ultimately, my goal with this piece is to remind the viewer that we are ALL connected on this planet. From the honeybee to the sea, we are one.
